Dermatology consultation

Dermatology

Dermatology consultation: mole checks, acne, pigmentation, warts and skin conditions.

Medical dermatology consultation for the diagnosis and treatment of skin, hair and nail conditions, with particular attention to mole checks and skin lesions.

Mole checks

This is the most important reason to come and the one least worth postponing. We live on the coast, with high sun exposure accumulated over years, and early detection completely changes the outlook for a suspicious lesion. Each mole is assessed, documented and followed up as needed.

When not to wait

A mole that changes size, shape or colour, has irregular borders or two different tones, itches or bleeds, or has appeared in adulthood. Also any wound that does not close within a few weeks. When in doubt, an extra consultation is always better.

Other common reasons

Acne in teenagers and adults, rosacea, dermatitis, psoriasis, pigmentation changes, warts, nail fungus and hair loss. The consultation includes diagnosis, a treatment plan and specific care guidance.

Sun protection and prevention

Much skin damage is cumulative and avoidable. Alongside treating the reason for your visit, we review sun exposure habits and protection, especially for fair skin, outdoor workers and anyone with previous lesions.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I have my moles checked?
As a general rule, annually from the age of 40, or earlier if you have fair skin, many moles, a family history of melanoma or significant childhood sunburn. If something changes, do not wait for the yearly check.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No. You can book directly for the dermatology consultation at the clinic.
Can lesions be treated in the same visit?
It depends on the type of lesion and what it requires. The visit explains what is appropriate in each case, and if an intervention or biopsy is needed the right pathway is arranged.
